From Camp to Boston 从夏校到波士顿

Today we’re already in Boston — so how did we get here? Well, on the last day of my CTY camp, we were allowed to go home early, so we hopped on a train headed to Boston, which was the very last stop. Everybody got off at the end of the line, including us, and by then it was already one o’clock. We went to a house my mom had booked the day before, and we crashed for the night.

The next morning, we had breakfast and visited the science center, where I skateboarded around the Explorer area. After that, we went to bed again.

This morning, we ate Shake Shack for breakfast, and then we rode our skateboards all the way back home and over to Boston Common — which is the oldest public park in the whole United States, dating all the way back to the 1630s. After that, we went to a little water play station.

Then my mom had a great idea: “How about we take a tour of Harvard?” So we took the metro to Harvard and joined a tour. It was really fun, although the guide spoke pretty fast and I didn’t catch most of it! Skateboarding around the Harvard campus was a blast. There was also this statue of John Harvard, and its foot was rubbed bright, shiny copper. That’s because visitors touch the statue’s foot for good luck, and after so many years of people rubbing it, the metal has been polished smooth and gleaming.

After that, we headed back to the metro and got off one stop earlier than home on purpose, because we wanted to skateboard for a long time on the way to the Duck Boat dock. When we arrived, we waited about 20 minutes, and then our Duck Boat came. I even got to drive the boat under a bridge, which was exactly where it was supposed to go! Almost everybody got a turn steering with my help — except my brother Henry, who was too scared to try.

After that, we went back home. I did a few readings, played a few games, and then we went to sleep. What an adventure these past few days have been!
