The Toughest Animal on Earth 地球上最顽强的动物

Today in the morning, we ate breakfast, and it was hamburgers and fries — leftovers from yesterday! We’d ordered way too much food the day before, since we didn’t end up going to the shop we’d planned on and ate somewhere else instead. So that’s how burgers became today’s breakfast.

After that, we went to school, and I had my microscope class, which was really fun. We looked at tardigrades, also known as water bears. They’re famous for being one of the toughest animals on Earth, and it’s true — they can survive extreme heat and cold, radiation, and even being completely dried out. They do it by going into a kind of “shutdown mode” until conditions get better. The wild part is that you can’t see them at all without a microscope, since they’re only about half a millimeter long. Moss and lichen are some of the easiest places to find them, which is where ours came from, but water bears actually live almost everywhere — in soil, fresh water, and even the ocean.

After class, we thought it was going to rain, but it never did, so we headed to the skateboard park. I even got new shoes to try out there, which made skating feel extra fun.

Later, we tried to find our school building to take a picture of it, but my mom couldn’t find it, and our car was running low on battery. So we stopped to charge the car and grabbed something to eat. I had Kool-Aid, and it was really good! I first found out about Kool-Aid from a friend, because they had the powdered kind, and it tasted so good.

After all that, we went back home, and then we went to sleep. What a great day.
