Fried Oysters and Blue Crab 炸生蚝和蓝蟹

Today when I woke up, it was already nine o’clock, so the first thing I did was my math. After that, we went to the science center — I actually like to call it the “super awesome science center” because it’s just that great. We played there for a solid four hours, right up until it had to close at four. Then we headed to the skateboard park, where I skated for another two hours. I had such a good time being active all day.

After that, my mom got some restaurant recommendations that her friend said would be really nice to eat at. We picked the closest one, and it turned out to be a seafood place. We ordered blue crab egg rolls and fried oysters. My favorite by far was the fried oysters — they were so good! The blue crab egg rolls were fine, but you couldn’t really taste the crab meat since it was all mixed in with egg. Still, it came with a special sauce that I really liked, which made it better.

They also served something surprising: sweet lemon. And I don’t mean lemonade — I mean actual lemon slices that weren’t sour at all. They were sweet! It turns out these were probably Meyer lemons, which are a cross between a regular lemon and an orange (or mandarin). That’s exactly why they taste sweeter and less sour than the lemons I’m used to. I tried one, and it was such a cool surprise to bite into a lemon and not pucker up.

After all of that, we got home and wrapped up the day. It was a fun one, full of skating, science, and some tasty new foods I’d never tried before.
