A Day of Science and Snacks 科学与美食的一天

Today I had breakfast, and it was really good — I had cereal and milk, which is my favorite way to start the morning. After that, we went to school, and it was such a fun day.

When we got to the science building, we started with an introduction, and we looked at our mystery picture again (we still haven’t figured out what it is!). Then came the best part: we worked with the microscope and learned how to measure things while looking through it. We also learned about units — both the American system (like inches and pounds, which we use in everyday life here) and the metric system (like centimeters and grams, which scientists and most of the world use). It was really interesting to see how the same thing can be measured two totally different ways.

After that, we got to do free microscoping, which was awesome. You could bring a flat object — or grab something from outside — and look at it under the microscope. There were different magnification levels: 4X, 10X, and 40X, so you could zoom in closer and closer to see tiny details you’d never notice with your eyes. Then we had free play and recess, and after that we did some activities before finally heading home.

When I got home, I ate three slices of mushroom pizza, but somehow I was still hungry! So we cooked up some orange chicken — it’s basically crispy chicken covered in a sweet-and-sour sauce, and it’s really, really good. (You could look it up if you’ve never had it!) After that, we brushed our teeth and I went to sleep. What a fun, tasty day.
