A Day at the World Cup 世界杯的一天

Today we woke up at eight and went to the FIFA World Cup — our friend had invited us to watch! It was the quarter-final between Spain and Belgium, held right here in Los Angeles. When we got inside, there were so many people that the whole stadium was full, and it filled up to about a quarter within the first little while. There were tons of famous people there, but the only one I actually recognized was IShowSpeed. I couldn’t believe he actually came to the game!

Then I set my phone down on the stadium ledge and just let it film everything — I didn’t even have to touch it, and I caught all three goals on camera! The match was full of drama. Spain scored first through Fabián Ruiz, and then Belgium’s Charles De Ketelaere headed one in — it was the very first goal Spain had let in this entire World Cup, ending a huge streak of over 650 minutes without conceding. Finally, Mikel Merino scored the winning goal to make it 2–1 Spain. I got that historic Belgium goal on my phone, both on the instant replay screen and live on the field. I was so lucky!

My friend even got on the stadium camera — that’s when they point a camera at you and you show up on the big screen for everyone to see. I didn’t get the chance, but it was still really cool to watch.

After all that, we drove a long time back home and got everything ready, then headed to my friend’s house, which is about an hour away — maybe even longer, I’m not totally sure. We’re going because tomorrow we want to visit a mushroom farm that’s really far away. Since we didn’t want to waste money on a hotel, we asked if we could stay with our friend, and we brought them a few toys as a thank-you — including a cool toy egg. I had such a fun day, and I hope tomorrow will be just as great as today!
