Screen Printing at the Workshop

Today was a pretty fun day. First, we headed to the Urban Workshop, and I was pretty excited to see what we’d be making. We started with the heat press, and then we moved on to something really cool called screen printing. Instead of spraying paint on like spray paint, you scrub the paint across a special screen that has a cut-out design, so only the pattern shows up on whatever you’re printing.

After we did all that, the ink was still wet, so we had to let our pieces dry overnight — which meant I’d get to pick mine up in the morning. We also made a case for safety glasses to go along with it. I honestly thought the whole thing would only take half a day, but it ended up taking the entire day! A lot of that time, I was just waiting around for things to dry or for my turn.

Since the workshop ran until about 4 o’clock when school ends, we went to In-N-Out afterward. After that, we didn’t really have anything else to do, so we stopped by the grocery store, where I picked up a few popsicles. After such a long, tiring day, I still had a fun time doing all of it. I can’t wait to see how my screen-printed pieces turn out tomorrow!
