The Best Dinner I Ever Made 我做过的最棒的一顿晚餐

Today I had such a fun day. First thing in the morning, I asked everyone what they wanted for breakfast. My mom said she had to leave around 9 or 9:30, so I suggested, “How about you just cook once you come home?” While I waited, I watched a really good show called MythBusters Junior. It’s about a group of kids who test out all sorts of ideas to see if they actually work — like whether tape can stop a car, whether you can build a parachute or a bridge out of everyday stuff, and so much more. Basically, people come up with an idea, and then they put it to the test to find out if it’s true. I had a great time watching it.

After that, we ate lunch, which was really more like breakfast, since my mom didn’t make it home early enough. Once we finished eating, I told everyone we needed to go grocery shopping — because I had a surprise dinner planned! So we headed to 99 Ranch Market, a Chinese supermarket that has really good stuff and ingredients.

For my surprise, I picked a tomato-flavored hot pot base that I’ve used plenty of times before — it’s one of my favorites. First, I added in a bunch of dried mushrooms, which my brother loves. Then I added the corn, since it takes a while and needs to cook long enough to get soft. After that went the noodles, and once they were almost done, we dropped in the shrimp and the lobster tails. My mom chopped up the lobster into little pieces, and it was so good.

After everything was cooked, I drizzled a little oil over the top to finish it off — and just like that, I had made dinner! It turned out delicious, and I liked it a lot. My mom even said it was the best dinner she had ever had, which made me so proud. After all that cooking, we were all tired, and there was still some left over. My mom had a great idea to turn the leftovers into tomorrow’s breakfast. I honestly can’t wait for tomorrow!
