Today was packed — I had two completely different adventures back-to-back. First, I went to Mind Code for coding class, and the teacher was super nice. He told us our next project is going to be Rock, Paper, Scissors, and I can’t wait to get started. Coding in Python is really fun, especially because we get to use special commands that feel almost like magic.
Today, I learned about if statements and also about order — meaning the order your code runs in. I figured out that when you write an if statement, you have to put a tab in front of the print line (or anything else you want the if statement to control). Otherwise, Python won’t know that line belongs inside the if. It took me a minute to get the hang of it, but once I did, it clicked.
The way I think of it, an if statement is like a little box. You can only get inside the box if the condition is True. If it’s False, the door stays shut and you can’t access what’s inside. That picture really helps me remember how it works.
After I wrapped up coding, I headed over to Softland Studio, and wow — there were tons of people there. I walked up and told them I could lend a hand, and they put me right to work as a part-time helper. My job was to assist the customers with all kinds of handcraft projects — some people were doing stained glass soldering, others were polishing the edges of glass pieces, and a few were working on rugs. I got to run around helping wherever I was needed, and it felt awesome to actually be useful.

The manager was so happy with my work that at the end of the day, he handed me $100 in cash. I couldn’t believe it — that was the first time I ever earned real money from a job! I felt really proud holding those bills in my hand.

It was such a fun day, and afterward I had dinner — I was starving by then! I really, really hope I get to go back and help out again soon. Today was one of those days that just flew by because I was having so much fun.
我搞明白了:写 if 语句的时候,要在 print 那一行前面加一个 Tab(或者其他你想让 if 控制的语句也一样)。
