Today I went to a place called Gem Studio. I brought my own stones, hoping to use them, but I was disappointed to find out they weren’t accepting customers’ stones yet. Even so, I still had a lot of fun helping Mom make her bracelet.
It turned out you could make many different things with the beads there, but I chose a bracelet because the staff said it was the most popular. They let us pick our own stones, and there were also tiny diamond decorations you could use to spell out your name. Unfortunately, I didn’t leave enough space on mine, so I couldn’t really use that part — but it was still really fun.
The trickiest step was opening the little rings and connecting them to the bracelet by yourself. You have to use small pliers, and it takes a bit of practice to get it right. Once I got the hang of it, it actually felt pretty satisfying.
One important thing to watch out for is bending the rings. If you’re not careful, they can get sharp or even break, and then they might fall on the floor where you’d never find them. Despite that small challenge, I really enjoyed the whole experience.
If I get the chance, I’d definitely love to go back.
今天我去了一家叫 Gem Studio 的店。我自己带了石头去,本来想用上,结果发现他们暂时还不接受顾客自带的材料。虽然有点失望,但帮妈妈做手链的过程还是特别开心。
原来那里可以用珠子做出好多种不同的东西,但我选了手链,因为店员说手链是最受欢迎的。我们可以自己挑石头,还有一些小小的钻石装饰,可以用来拼自己的名字。可惜的是,我没在手链上留出足够的空间,所以这部分没怎么用上——不过还是玩得很尽兴。
最有挑战的一步,是自己掰开那些小圆环再把它们扣到手链上。你得用小钳子,还得练几次才能上手。等我掌握诀窍之后,做起来意外地有种成就感。
有一件事要特别留意,就是掰那些小圆环的时候。一不小心它们就会变锋利,甚至断掉,然后掉到地上就再也找不到了。虽然这是个小麻烦,但整个体验我真的很喜欢。
如果有机会,我一定还想再去一次。
