I brought my friend along to eat with me, and when we got there, we found a whole bunch of flavors to pick from. One of the cups was small, and honestly, I knew I couldn’t finish the big one all by myself — so I went with the small one instead.

Testing My Solar Panel at the Park

Today, I went to Soils Park with my solar panel to try it out in the real world. At first, it worked great and was charging just fine. But once the sun started going down, the light got weaker, so I had to move the panel to a higher spot to catch whatever sunlight was left.

What surprised me the most was this — even after the sun had gone down and it looked totally dark to my eyes, the panel was still charging, just really, really slowly. I guess there’s still a tiny bit of light out there that we humans can’t see, but the panel can pick up on it. That was honestly mind-blowing. Though I think part of the reason it didn’t charge much overall is that we didn’t get there early enough — next time I want to head out way sooner so I can get the full afternoon of sunlight.

A Crazy Fun Day at Sky Zone

Today, I went to Sky Zone, and it was really, really fun. I got to play all kinds of things, but the main thing I wanted to do was play soccer. There was just one problem — the soccer court was closed. I was kind of bummed out because I was also hoping I could play soccer there.

But honestly, the rest of it was a blast — we ran around so much that I was completely worn out. We bumped into each other a few times, but not too hard, and we played at full speed the whole time. It was nonstop action from start to finish.

A Day of Coding and Part-Time Helper

Today was packed — I had two completely different adventures back-to-back. First, I went to Mind Code for coding class, and the teacher was super nice. He told us our next project is going to be Rock, Paper, Scissors, and I can’t wait to get started. Coding in Python is really fun, especially because we get to use special commands that feel almost like magic.

Today, I learned about if statements and also about order — meaning the order your code runs in. I figured out that when you write an if statement, you have to put a tab in front of the
print
line (or anything else you want the if statement to control). Otherwise, Python won’t know that line belongs inside the if. It took me a minute to get the hang of it, but once I did, it clicked.

A Fun Afternoon at Gem Studio

Today I went to a place called Gem Studio. I brought my own stones, hoping to use them, but I was disappointed to find out they weren’t accepting customers’ stones yet. Even so, I still had a lot of fun helping Mom make her bracelet.

It turned out you could make many different things with the beads there, but I chose a bracelet because the staff said it was the most popular. They let us pick our own stones, and there were also tiny diamond decorations you could use to spell out your name. Unfortunately, I didn’t leave enough space on mine, so I couldn’t really use that part — but it was still really fun.

I Made 3 Stained Glass Pieces Today

Today I went to a stained glass class. I made two fish and one clam — three projects! They were kind of tiny, but it was really, really fun.

Before I tell you about how I made them, I want to share the two most important things I learned today. If you ever try stained glass, please remember these.

When you are using the soldering iron — it’s like a metal pen that melts metal — you need to be very, very careful. It is very, very hot.

001/100 How to make stained glass

🪟 The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Stained Glass Soldering

🌟 Part 1: What is Stained Glass Soldering?

Stained glass soldering is the craft of joining small pieces of colored glass into a single artwork by wrapping each piece’s edges with copper foil and then fusing them together with melted solder. The technique you’ll learn here is called the Tiffany method (or “copper foil method”), invented by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the late 1800s. It’s the same fundamental technique used to make Tiffany lamps and most modern decorative stained glass — different in scale, identical in principle.

Stained Glass
